I dug up some more old photos that I just had to upload. These shots were taken during my own personal seal watching trip – via kayak off Rome Point in North Kingstown. It was a cold day in January of 1995.

Bird is the Word.
Hang it, and they will come. We received our first guest on the new bird feeder. I was all fired up to test the capabilities of my new, pre-owned 200mm Nikon lens; it’s superior to my 70mm Nikon kit lens, but it still falls short of National Geographic quality photos. Admittedly, a lens of that quality can cost thousands of dollars. Can anyone spare some change?
First go at Photoshop
My first project using Photoshop: The tutorial calls this Hand Coloring, which means turning the color photo into a grayscale, and then choosing a certain object and reverting it (and only it) back to color. It’s a pretty cool effect.

The kids are asleep. Christmas Vacation, a holiday classic, just ended. It’s almost time for Santa Clause to do his thing.
After the Storm
The snow came down pretty hard yesterday, forcing me to work from home. The bad part? We were up early this morning shoveling the driveway. My back is killing me – time for a snowblower. But after the shoveling it was time for sledding, and a few photo opportunities.

A good photographer can make something out of nothing. I’m not a good photographer, and so this photo isn’t much of anything. But it’s my blog, and so I present to you a dying pumpkin.

A close look at the loot one of my kids scored while trick or treating. I took my cut after they went to bed, because technically I’m not supposed to take a cut. If they only knew.
Okay, so my last couple of posts were a little late in coming, after all, it’s Christmas next week and you’re looking at pumpkins.
