Martin and I took dad out fishing yesterday on Worden’s Pond. Eric joined us, despite the 5:30AM wake-up call. Dad caught the first fish of the day after insisting that we consider changing to a different color lure. Apparently he was right. He caught this Perch using a white lure, rather than the chartreuse Martin and I were using. Father knows best. As for Eric, he just wanted to go home, or eat pancakes, or pee, or something that did not involve being on the water on an uncharacteristically chilly June morning.

“Punch Buggy (enter color here)!!”
So this one is the latest thing we do. Apparently the kids have learned about something called the “Punch Buggy” game. Allow me to explain: when one of the little rodents sees a Volkswagen Beetle, they punch us while exclaiming “Punch Buggy (enter color here)!!” This has since been expanded to “Punch Buggy (enter color here) – No punch backs!!” It’s a wonder we haven’t been in an accident yet. Sigh.
This week in sports….
The Bruins won the Stanley Cup on Wednesday. Just thought I’d mention that. Big parade in Boston today. And Thursday night we were off to the kids’ first PawSox game. We made it all the way to the 5th inning (9pm). I went for the hot dogs. The kids went for the giant foam fingers. Donna went to watch me eat hot dogs and to buy the kids giant foam fingers.
Game(s) Over…for now.
The competitive soccer season ended yesterday, after a long and “heart-pounding” season. We were honored and proud to see Christy “selected” for the team, and the only thing she loved more than playing was making new friends. An awesome coach, assistant coach, and team mom made for an awesome season. We can’t wait to do it again. Christy scored two goals yesterday, making it an extra special way to end the season. The photo below was taken after last weekend’s tournament.

Rainy Day Space Battle
What does a father-and-son team do on a rainy day? Why play with new software on the Mac, of course. In this case, it’s Pixelmator, which is a lot like Photoshop, only a lot easier to use. So below is the result of our first “project” together. It was Eric’s idea to add the image of Mars, which I have to admit adds a dramatic flair. The Lego spaceships were built by Eric and me.

Soccer Tournament
Yesterday was the soccer tournament for Team Dunk’n. We played in Coventry, and while the game results weren’t the greatest, at least we got to see some of the prettier parts of the state – rivers, lakes, and pine trees all around. But I digress; first game was a tie, and the second…? I can’t remember (selective memory I guess). Christy and I have some more practicing to do. Above all, she had fun with her friends. And that’s why we do it.
