A nice view to end the work day today. This is our new office building in Johnston, RI, home to some 3,000 colleagues. We’ve been here just over a year now.

I have a love hate relationship with this photo. Love it, because a lot of Facebook friends really seemed to like it; hate it, because it was taken with an iPhone 11 Pro – and not my Sony A7R3. That day when smart phone cameras crush the photography industry (Nikon, Canon, Sony) will soon be upon us. Special thanks to SnapSeed for adding a hint of HDR to the photo’s final version.

An early start in the morning means capturing great light, and the stillness of the water just adds to a peaceful scene near the bridges in Barrington, RI.

It was a more somber night than the usual raucous, fun-loving, Waterfire celebrations of the past. Taps, played by uniformed trumpeters positioned along the river, added to a moving event.
…at Brickyard Pond in Barrington, RI.

I love this spot along Brickyard Pond because of its brilliant colors in the fall. This was taken with the iPhone 11 Pro, set on the super wide angle. As usual, I had to wait until Boomer, Storm, and Thunder, were out of frame.
…on the new iPhone 11 Pro.

The first photo taken by my new iPhone 11 Pro, this time set on the macro lens.
I was standing in the cold rain Thursday night, balancing an umbrella in one hand, and a camera in the other. Feeling a little miserable. Then it occurred to me that I’m not being shot at, and the odds of stepping on a booby trap before getting home were slim to none. I looked at the names again. They immediately put everything in perspective.

…leaving the base station. The trip took us more than 6,000 feet up to below zero temperatures. It was our kids’ first time going, and I think they were genuinely impressed.

…enjoying a nice view partway up Mount Washington.

Sailing lessons within sight of the Whaling Ship Charles W. Morgan (Mystic Seaport).
