His "very own" fishing rod.

We went to the Bass Pro Shop in Foxboro today so we could buy Eric his very own fishing rod and reel – no more borrowing mine. We rigged the rod and headed for Jones’ Pond not far from the house. It was just before sun down. We got one hit on the rubber worm, during my turn. I guess I didn’t set the hook right, because by the time I handed the rod to Eric, it decided to let go – but not before I saw it jump clear out of the water – a small Largemouth Bass. Unfortunately, Eric didn’t see it jump. Rats.

Eric lands his first Large Mouth Bass

Eric bags his first Large Mouth Bass. He caught this on a cheap plastic worm from Benny’s. He cast the line and “worked” the worm – and brought her in all by himself. I’m the official hook remover though (I’m still good for something). I was going to have Eric hold the lunker for this shot, but the weight of the fish, and those sharp little “teeth,” put a stop to that. Ouch.

Play Ball! Baseball 09 is under way!

Eric waits for his pitch.

Christy advances to second base.

Not sure who’s more excited… the kids, or me. The kids are playing on different teams this year. Christy plays for the Rockies, and Eric plays for the Indians. Last year they played on the same team, but that was “when they were little.”
