We spent some of the afternoon today hanging out at Crescent Park. There were BMX stunt riders, live music, and a former NFL player (Jamie Silva). Jamie put our kids, and loads of others, through a football workout. I got really tired watching them. I really need to take it easy.

White Water
February. The coldest month? Nope.
According to the news, this has been the warmest winter on record. No argument here. The kids and I headed for Brickyard Pond today to throw the football around. I also blew the dust off the camera and took this shot (HDR) of one of the small streams that feeds the pond. A very nice day indeed. Hoping for more of the same tomorrow.
Same shot with extra sharpening done in Lightroom 3.
Hmm. Any difference?

Keep still, will ya?
Martin’s Hog
I took some shots of Martin and his “Hog” this morning, I have to say that the HDR shot (middle) might just be my favorite HDR photo yet. I kept it subtle this time, without all the “bling.” You can see a larger version of the photo on Flickr. The top shot is of me taking the shot (see reflection – ignore motor). The bottom shot was taken at a nearby Stop & Shop parking lot – just down the street. Martin made a few drive-bys, but the bright sun was too much for an optimal shot using the slow shutter speed. I was able to sort of salvage this one from the dozen I shot. Oh, well – live and learn. Did I mention this Hog is loud.
A funny thing happened on the way…
…to the Point Judith Lighthouse. I forgot my tripod. The kids collected some nice flat rocks for me, and Presto, instant rockpod. A short rockpod (requiring the prone position), but a rockpod nonetheless. So I was able to pull off the shot below after all. Whew. Turns out my sister-in-law, Mary, requested a copy, so it was worth the extra effort.
