One very proud mom (Donna) looks at Christy and her soccer team in the East Providence Reporter. This is the first time Christy has appeared in the paper, so it was a special moment. Christy’s team won the indoor competitive league B Division title. A very proud Dad took the photo.
Christy is enjoying her first season of Competitive League Soccer, which begins with an indoor session that goes many weeks. So every Saturday evening, it’s “soccer time,” and Christy is doing really well. She’s one of the fastest girls on the team. “Go Christy!”
I’m an assistant coach this year for Eric’s team, so Donna took the photo of him in goal; I was pre-occupied with a gaggle of rugrats. But I’ll take credit for the shot of Christy scrambling for the ball.
On a more somber note, the games began after a moment of silence in remembrance of those who died on September 11, 2001 – nine years ago today.

Christy played today, while Eric’s team had the day off. She played hard again, which was pretty good considering the heat. We reviewed positions after the game, because at times Christy appeared confused, as did most of the other kids.
Both Eric and Christy played well. Christy scored at least two goals for the Metrostars, while Eric played VERY aggressive defense for “Germany.” As promised, I took them to Fantasy Land for their efforts. I didn’t take any photos, because the rain was a bit much. In fact, the 8am Soccer Parade had to be canceled. Christy plays again tomorrow, so I’m hoping to get some shots.
