Random macros from yesterday…

So I just got my camera back from Nikon. There was a recall on the D600, and so it was time to kick the tires after getting it back. The recall involved excessive grease spots on the sensor. Sometimes it was too much for Lightroom’s spot removal tool to handle.

Noisy end of Discovery

We recently took a trip to the Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, VA. The Space Shuttle Discovery was one of the main attractions. Hard to believe I was just 10 years old when the first orbiter rolled off the assembly line.

Their Finest Hour: This much older airplane is the reason I’m alive today. This is the Hawker Hurricane, and while the British Spitfire got much of the glory, it was the Hurricane that shot down more German bombers than any other British fighter during the Battle of Britain. My dad, just a kid at the time, actually saw a German bomber limping along after being shot up, and it’s a good chance a Hurricane was responsible. Needless to say, my mum and dad survived because of the RAF’s Finest Hour.
