The iPhone strikes again

I took a lot of photos today, due in large part to a ferry ride from Providence to Newport, RI. The Sony camera came out many times, but my favorite photo of the day was taken with my iPhone, just outside our front door. This happens all too often. Time to downgrade. 🙂

Stella D’oro

He’s warbling, loudly.

Our favorite little spring-time bird – the yellow warbler, singing away at Trustom Pond in South Kingstown, RI. I took several photos of this bird, but this capture was finally free of branches and twigs going across his face, etc. A nice, clean shot of him belting out a tune.

I’ll be back

A setting sun burns a hole through a tree just above a gathering of Brown-eyed Susans. I mentioned to Donna as we walked the grounds of Hunt’s Mill today that this place will bring me back to EP for repeated visits, long after our imminent move to North Kingstown. Walking trails, a waterfall, and – what else do you need?

Brown-eyed Susans before a setting sun at Hunt’s Mill.

Bird (turd) is the word

A house wren, I think. This tiny bird is a frequent visitor at my dad’s house, due in part to the bird hotel he setup on the back deck, under the roof. As we sit and eat our own lunch, we watch as the parents come and go, feeding their squawking babies in the hotel. After the babies are grown and gone, we’ll need to relocate the hotel; the deck is a frequent target of droppings. Photo was taken with a Sony 200-600mm lens and Sony A7r5.

Lift off!

Donna and I recently went canoeing around the back side – or quiet side – of Harbor Island in Narragansett, RI. The idea was to drift toward an unsuspecting Great Egret with the hopes of getting as close as possible for a shot. This one, thankfully, held its ground till the last moment.
