Christy (left) inadvertently kicks the ball high and into the face of an opposing Cranston player during today’s game. No need to take a knee on this one, because the opponent shrugged it off and continued to play hard against our girls. I hope Christy can shrug off a hit like that when it’s her turn to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Anyhow, our girls held onto the lead in the end. Click here for more photos.

Bend it like Beckham
Another sports weekend…
This little light of mine…
That’s Christy’s little buddy, Emme, in goal during second half action in the first indoor game of the season. It’s almost impossible to get good shots through the protective glass, but on this occasion I was able to find a hole in the netting above the glass. Anyhow, Emme is new to the team, but she’s one tenacious player, so it won’t be long before she makes a name for herself. Besides, it appears that she has God on her side. ; -)
Like they were traffic cones…
Some Like it HOT…..we don’t.
It was a very hot day in Foxboro, too hot for a Soccer Tournament. We lost the first and second games, but the girls worked hard to tie the third. Everyone played well, but the other teams were just a step ahead of us – literally. We had a few familiar faces pinch hit for us, while some of our best girls remain on the DL. They were sorely missed.
His BEST game yet….
Eric really played well on Saturday. He made a textbook corner kick, complete with a nice high arc, dropping it right in front of the goal. His team mates didn’t capitalize on the opportunity, but still it was a beautiful chip shot. He went on to score his very first goal later in the game. All this earned him the “outstanding player” pin for this game. I am incredibly proud.
Game(s) Over…for now.
The competitive soccer season ended yesterday, after a long and “heart-pounding” season. We were honored and proud to see Christy “selected” for the team, and the only thing she loved more than playing was making new friends. An awesome coach, assistant coach, and team mom made for an awesome season. We can’t wait to do it again. Christy scored two goals yesterday, making it an extra special way to end the season. The photo below was taken after last weekend’s tournament.
Soccer Tournament
Yesterday was the soccer tournament for Team Dunk’n. We played in Coventry, and while the game results weren’t the greatest, at least we got to see some of the prettier parts of the state – rivers, lakes, and pine trees all around. But I digress; first game was a tie, and the second…? I can’t remember (selective memory I guess). Christy and I have some more practicing to do. Above all, she had fun with her friends. And that’s why we do it.
Was it really Christy?
It was Christy’s first outdoor game today playing on her competitive soccer team. It was also her first go at playing offense. At one point I was fiddling with my camera, and then looked up just in time to see a shot go past the other team’s goalie. Who exactly made the shot was unclear to me, although Christy was in the vicinity. Could it be? Was it her? She wasn’t celebrating, so I didn’t dwell on it. But at the half, I walked over to Donna, and her smile confirmed what I was hoping. She really did it. I was (am) one proud dad.
