An auspicious start to Father’s Day (weekend)

I christened my new freshwater rod and reel this morning – with a four-pound Large Mouth Bass. I didn’t actually weigh it, but it’s one of the bigger ones I have ever caught. The bait is a Zoom brand, and in this case it was a “salamander” – with lots of action as you retrieve it.

It may have looked peaceful tonight, but Martin and I joked about the background noise, which included planes coming in to land at Green Airport, and Warwick’s finest testing their sirens at the nearby police headquarters. Not a bad night though; we caught a couple Large Mouth Bass and a Crappie from the Scanoe, and the electric outboard worked perfectly. Even so, I’m still looking to catch that elusive five-pound bass.

Some Like it HOT…..we don’t.

It was a very hot day in Foxboro, too hot for a Soccer Tournament. We lost the first and second games, but the girls worked hard to tie the third. Everyone played well, but the other teams were just a step ahead of us – literally. We had a few familiar faces pinch hit for us, while some of our best girls remain on the DL. They were sorely missed.
