Ice Fishing at Lincoln Woods Park
Not a bad day for a cold winter day. This was really the first time the kids have seen (and been on) a frozen lake – that’s them in the middle of the top photo. Ice skaters and ice fisherman were doing their thing, too. Nigel enjoyed it, but his hips weren’t up for the added effort to stay upright. Poor Nigel – aka Hot Diggity Dog.

Nigel and I were at one of our favorite spots a few weeks ago. Not even a chilly 30 degrees can detract from this view.

How’s this for an exciting blog post? It’s Wednesday night. The kids are trying to stay up late, and they still need to read for 20 minutes – per Mrs. Ray (2nd Grade). Nigel is licking his tail. There’s a bottle of white wine in the ice box (better get that out of there now). American Idol is on the TV. And the only reason I’m writing this post is to knock the photo of the Jonas Brothers down a notch. I really don’t need to see it.

Overheard my eight-year-old daughter talking to her friend Emme on the phone yesterday: Don’t hate me, Emme, but I have a Jonas Brothers poster for my room. The Donny Osmond of their time?
More Phun with Photoshop
I thought this was a pretty cool effect. I took the shot with the iPhone. I then used an iPhone app called Photoshop mobile. The app comes with a filter that converted the original photo (bottom) to the one above. I think it’s called a sketch filter.
Killing can be fun!
Martin and I went at it online last night playing Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3. I think we could call it a draw.

…on Christmas Eve.
Shot through the glass.
When I saw this Cardinal, I knew opening the sliding glass door would scare it away. So I took this shot through the door, knowing it wouldn’t come out that great. It turned out to be one of my better shots. The glass door actually had the effect of blurring the background, which added a nice contrast to this very red bird.
